HOW SEAGULL IV WAS BORN

HOW SEAGULL IV WAS BORN

General Ecology Inc. began with one goal. To create environmentally friendly and healthy water purification technology.
Developed by multidisciplinary scientists and engineers with the intent of solving modern environmental and water contamination problems, the "Structured Matrix" purification technology combines truly advanced concepts and purification techniques not available in other products.

Before the late 1960s, the availability of clean drinking water was not considered an issue. Although the water pollution problems of the coming years were only hinted at in the media, scientists and other experts studying the widespread pollution of groundwater and surface water supplies highlighted the full extent of future water quality problems.

Richard T. Williams, president and founder of General Ecology Inc., studied technologies from around the world to create a system capable of providing what became known as the primary goal, clean drinking water. It took tremendous effort to find the best existing technology to address modern water pollution problems, and a great deal of organizational effort to define and then responsibly develop, manufacture and distribute a drinking water purification system with advanced technology. Richard T. Williams, a former research and development engineer at the renowned Lawrence Livermore Labs, brought together scientists and engineers from the California Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of California at Davis and the Max Planck Institute in Germany. This group of engineers with diverse technical backgrounds marked the beginning of General Ecology Inc. which was created in 1973.

Seagull IV Technology

General Ecology Inc.'s purification and separation technology has been scientifically developed from basic research and then optimized to efficiently, reliably and environmentally friendly remove a wide range of contaminants. These include all three forms of disease-causing water pollution; microorganisms, specific toxic and carcinogenic chemicals, tastes, odors, sediment and other particles. This proprietary technology of General Ecology Inc. known as "Structured Matrix" is independently certified to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's stringent requirements for standard microbiological parameters for drinking water purifiers, including pathogenic cysts, disease-causing bacteria and viruses. General Ecology Inc. water purifiers with “Structured Matrix” technology have become the industry standard by which other products are measured.

Usage

While the majority of General Ecology Inc. products are used in residential, marine and recreational applications, the customer list also includes domestic and international airlines, government agencies, military and emergency preparedness organizations, professional outfitters, scientists, research laboratories, medical research groups and large corporations. General Ecology Inc. Products are sold in over 40 countries. Many of General Ecology Inc.'s products and features are patented in both the United States and internationally. Trademarks and trade names are registered internationally.
The great success of the "Structured Matrix" technology is continually evidenced by unmatched laboratory testing and over 40 years of satisfied customers worldwide. General Ecology Inc. continues to meet and exceed its goals to ensure that customers receive the great benefits of pure water tasting.
